We want to be a company that continues innovating for another 100 years.

Shachihata has reached its 100th year since its establishment in 2025. This feat was achieved through the support of our customers, associates, and mentors, along with the dedication of our employees. Again, we thank all of you from the bottom of our hearts. Looking back on our foundation, we faced many challenges with the development and progress of society. However, we learned many things from our customers, and were able to turn those walls into the doors to the future, keep on innovating, and grow as a company. Furthermore, these experiences taught us not to remain complacent in times of success, but rather to always stay vigilant and continue developing new products.

Shachihata will uphold the spirit of “No progress without challenge” for the next 100 years and, together with our dedicated employees, continue developing innovative products and services that serve our customers and society as an industry leader. We would like to ask for your continued support and encouragement.

Congratulations on your 100th anniversary. You have produced many original products, and continue to make contributions to society. Beginning with the Mannen stamp pad, which marked your establishment, you have continued to develop revolutionary products which meet the needs of the times such as the Xstamper, which doesn’t require a stamp pad, and the digital stamp, Pasokon Kessai, while always striving for excellence. We have repeatedly praised these efforts in our publications as “Creativity through challenge.” We hope that you continue to strive to develop new things and continue development for the next 100 years.

Since its founding as Funahashi Shokai in 1925 (Taisho 14), your company has dedicated itself to the growth and advancement of the stamp and stationery industry. Over the past 100 years, through the Taisho, Showa, Heisei, and Reiwa eras, you have overcome wars and natural disasters, achieving remarkable progress. We congratulate your 100th anniversary from the bottom of our hearts. President Masayoshi Funahashi said, “There have been events which shook the foundation of this company, throughout the years, and the way people work and live has changed. However, the challenges of making stamp pads were not even comparable to how they are now.” No matter when, the act of stamping the corners of paper or digital documents is ever present. “Although it is a niche market, we have built the brand up to where people think of Shachihata when they think of stamps. We would like to keep it that way.” We sincerely wish for your further prosperity in the next 100 years.

The 100 years of Shachihata history closely coincides with the history of the Showa Era, which started in 1926. The founder, Kinzo Funahashi, and his brother, Takaji worked tirelessly to revive the company after the war. This combined effort in “manufacturing” and “expansion” symbolises the history of Shachihata’s 100 years. They began sales in Okinawa, which was not yet returned to Japan, and established overseas bases in Los Angeles to set the foundation for U.S. distribution. It is famously known that they then broadened their global business to the world through successful expansions in Europe. I still remember when President Shinkichiro and his wife tirelessly stood at their booth every day, at the Messe Frankfurt trade fair.

Congratulations on Shachihata’s 100th anniversary. Starting with stamp pads, evolving through pre-inked name stamps, and now expanding into the digital realm, I have great expectations for Shachihata as it continues to pursue its core identity of "marking" while exploring new frontiers. I also hope that the ever-enriching Shachihata New Product Design Competition will continue to contribute to the company's further growth and innovation.

Congratulations on reaching 100 years since your establishment. Was there ever a product that had as much name recognition as your company name? What’s more, the Shachihata products are used to consistently and accurately signify the company identity of clients. Your company is a significant staple of our society, a great feat indeed. We hope for your continued success in the future, and look forward to your contribution to society in the coming years.

I have been given the opportunity to work as a judge at the Shachihata New Product Design Competition for 7 years. Seeing the elation in the faces of the Shachihata staff when discussing the ins-and-outs of the various final-round items will always remain in my memory. There are very few hosts that conduct events with such passion and enthusiasm. I hope that your curiosity and passion for manufacturing persists, and I hope that you continue to flourish for another 100 years.

As Japan modernised, documentation changed drastically. As a company which was born in such an era, you have supported the Japanese documentation style with innovative products, been authentication to countless decisions, and produced stamps for 100 years. Your establishment has most likely inscribed the largest number of Japanese names, and have been witness to the largest number of agreements and choices. Now, in this tumultuous time, we hope that your company’s products will not only continue to be used in business documents, but also a symbol for our wills and feelings.

Congratulations on your 100th anniversary. Starting with Name9, it felt natural to always have your products by my side. I am always amazed by the new products with fresh ideas you develop, and they have brought me lots of joy. The PETATTI for cats and dogs was used for recording the growth of my beloved cat, and the Jikakeru was used with masking tape. Various other products developed by you enrich my daily life. I am looking forward to the future development of many more products that support the daily lives of customers.

Stationery Planer

I was asked to make some congratulatory remarks and was wondering what to write. Then I started thinking, “What was my first Shachihata product?” I remembered. It was the first generation Name Pen. I was rummaging through my father’s pen case and happened upon a thick and curious pen. The lid fell off as I was toying with it, and thought, “A stamp!?” I still remember being amazed as a child by how seamlessly integrated and well-thought-out Shachihata’s tools were—truly a clever creation for working professionals. Since then, I have always associated Shachihata with a company that not only makes stamps but also creates smart and thoughtful tools. As you step into the next 100 years, I hope you continue to produce innovative and practical tools just as you always have. Congratulations on your 100th anniversary!

Congratulations on your 100th anniversary. Being able to use a stamp without having to use Vermilion stamp pad was a revolution. Upon my recent visit, I witnessed you firsthand paving the way forward with your technological abilities, in this time when stamps are decreasing in demand. I also found myself to be amazed and excited by the leadership shown when your seniors handed the reigns of projects to the younger generation. I have no doubt that with this combination of experienced wisdom and fresh, youthful ideas that you will be able to continue adapting to any situation that faces you. We look forward to your continued prosperity.

Name 9, designed to commemorate Shachihata’s 100th anniversary of founding, exudes a celebratory atmosphere by its range of colours that are designed by combining World Heritage sites that have been preserved throughout Japanese history and the seal culture that Shachihata has continued to conserve. Its motifs are Mt. Fuji, Yakushima Island, Itsukushima Shrine, Historic Villages of Shirakawa-go, and Nikko Toshogu Shrine.
